Introduction

Mui Wo School Parent-Teacher Association was founded in 1997. Its missions include promoting close liaison between the school and home, so as to foster better co-operation amongst parents and teachers as well as discussing matters of mutual concern in a common effort to improve the welfare of pupils.

PTA is composed of the General Meeting and the Executive Committee. All parents and teachers are members of the General Meeting, and all parents are entitled to attend the meetings. The Executive Committee, including the roles of chairperson, vice-chairpersons, treasurers, secretaries, recreational officers and ordinary committee members, consists of 13 parent members, the principal and three teacher members. Its biennial election is held in the autumn of odd-numbered years.

Every year, PTA makes plans to promote home-school co-operation. Both parent and teacher executive committee members are required to attend meetings and organise various events. The association applies for the Home-School Co-operation Grants annually to fund the events. Since 1997, a variety of events, including parents' talk, English tea party, MWS fundraising concert, Christmas party, parent-child sports day, parent-child day camp, parent-child hiking trip, birdwatching in Mai Po and cooking competition in the wilds, had been organised.
